We understand that you might have many questions about the next steps and how to prepare for your journey to New Haven. To help you navigate this process smoothly, we've compiled a comprehensive guide to assist in getting started at Yale.

Getting Your I-20 or DS-2019
The Office of International Students and Scholars OISS will issue you with either an I-20 for F-1 visa holders or a DS-2019 for J-1 visa holders. You'll receive these forms after submitting both your New Student Survey and the necessary financial documentation. Please allow us approximately 7 to 10 business days from receipt of this information before contacting us about its status, as we will notify you if there are any issues.
Passport to Yale
Upon receiving your I-20 or DS-2019 forms, you'll gn access to the OISS Passport to Yale through Yale Connect. This interactive app serves as a pre-arrival platform where you can connect with fellow incoming international students. You will be granted access about one week after receiving your I-20.
