National University of Singapore Ranks High in 16 Global Subject Areas, Maintains Top Positions in Asia

National University of Singapore NUS has achieved top positions in sixteen subject areas worldwide as per the QS World University Rankings by Subject for 2022. These achievements across fields such as Arts and Social Sciences, Computer Science, Design and Engineering, and Science reflect NUS's strength across its diverse colleges, faculties, and schools.

We are thrilled that NUS ranks among Asia's top universities in this year’s QS World University Rankings by Subject, sd Professor Ho Teck Hua, Senior Deputy President and Provost of NUS. Our 16 subject areas ranking within the global top ten highlight our commitment to excellence through world-class faculty, talented students, staff, and alumni.

NUS shares the pole position as Asia’s best university with Tokyo University, both institutions boasting three-point seven programs in the top fifty globally.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject evaluates 15,200 individual university programs at 1,543 universities worldwide across 51 academic disciplines and five broad faculties. This year's accolades underscore NUS's ability to mntn a strong international reputation based on decades of strategic investments in education quality.

Commenting on the achievement, Ben Sowter, Research Director at QS, sd: Singaporean institutions' consistent improvements mirror their long-term financial planning and global outlook, adding that Singapore's higher education sector is thriving.

NUS is committed to preparing students for a post-pandemic world where adaptability and versatility are crucial. The University fosters interdisciplinary learning through innovations such as the establishment of the College of ities and Sciences, and the College of Design and Engineering. These initiatives allow NUS to deliver future-focused education while providing students with flexibility across multiple pathways.

The launch of NUS College - Singapore's first undergraduate honors college - signals a new era for the university. It will introduce an inclusive community of learners across 50 majors including but not limited to ities and Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Business, Computer Science, and Law. The college enrich learning through experiential and interdisciplinary experiences in an immersive residential environment.
