If you are an international applicant to pursue a PhD or Master's degree program, the requirements are similar to those for all applicants.
that students entering must have earned a bachelor's degree or its equivalent before enrolling at our Graduate School. You can apply either before receiving your degree or while it's still in progress, provided you will have completed it prior to starting school.
It is common practice in some countries that an undergraduate or bachelor's-equivalent degree is conferred after three years of study; these degrees meet our application requirements.
The TOEFL and IELTS exams are necessary for most students whose native language isn't English.
Exemption from the English Language Test Requirement applies only to those who have received or will receive a bachelor's degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, including undergraduate studies spanning at least three years. This exemption doesn't apply to applicants with advanced degrees like MAMS or PhD programs.
The Graduate School does not have established minimum test scores for admission; however, individual departments might set their own requirements and use these scores in their review process. We recomm checking with the specific department you're applying to confirm if they have a minimum requirement.
For incoming doctoral students who score below 25 on the TOEFL Speaking section or below 7.5 on the IELTS Speaking section, there's an August Summer English Language program at Yale for mandatory participation before starting classes in August.
Applicants who accept our offer of admission will receive visa and immigration guidance from our Office of International Students and Scholars OISS team beginning in March.
When it comes to GPA reporting, you are encouraged to self-report your GPA or indicate that no GPA is avlable. There's no need to convert or recalculate this score as reported by your institution.
All academic records and letters of recommation uploaded must be in English or accompanied by a certified translation into English.
Fee wvers for international students may be requested to support application processes.
